Liverpool Christmas market

Liverpool is a great place to live in. For the last 4 years I lived in Liverpool and Wirral. There are so many interesting places and amazing events all year round. I was contacted by Travelodge and asked to talk about a hidden gem in Liverpool. I was delighted to get involved and talk about Liverpool.
Initially I thought of literally hidden gems, but I already blogged about them a few months ago. So I decided to talk about the Liverpool Christmas market as it fits well in the hidden gem category. Travelodge has a few hotels in Liverpool and 4 of them are in walking distance of the Christmas market.

The market takes place in the city centre, a busy location with plenty of shops and restaurants. I’ve been to the Christmas market for the first time a few years ago and it was fab, There were so many stalls with lovely gifts and food and mulled wine.

Between the Christmas market and L1, a big shopping centre, is the tallest Christmas tree in the UK. The tree is 30 metres tall and it has 280 heart lights.

Underneath the tree is a bar with cute pods where people can enjoy mulled apple juice, hot chocolate and other drinks.

I’m going to share a few pictures of the things that can be bought from this year’s market.

The fudge stall is huge and there are so many different aromas, it’s incredible.

The black fudge caught my eyes, I went straight to it… but the flavour is liquorice and I don’t like it.

The cupcakes were looking fab too, so many flavours and very beautiful decorated.

The red cookie monster was my favourite.

There were lots of savoury food stalls and most of them aren’t vegetarian, but there was at least one option. I’m not bothered by this when I’m going to an event or market as I would rarely eat there anyway. I prefer going to a restaurant, it’s more comfy.

These mouth-watering looking mushrooms were cooked with garlic. Yummy.

Waffles with Nutella and mini-pancakes were also on offer.

It was a soap stall with nice designs. The one I liked best was with a penguin. All had a wonderful smell.

They had wooden carriages with letters on top and the trains could be personalized. There were wooden plaques and frames that also could be personalized. I think it would make a wonderful gift for a little one.

More food stalls with olives, Turkish delight and Turkish desserts like baklava.

It was a second stall with wooden signs, but this one was more suitable for grownups.

I saw this stall last year too. They had beautiful tree decorations made from ceramic. The lady who was selling them would personalize them there. I found one with penguins (dad, mum and kid) that would have been great for us.

The natural Christmas tree, nicely decorated, at the other end of the Christmas market.

Have you been to the Liverpool Christmas market? Do you do your Christmas shopping at markets?

  1. I’ve been for the last two years and once my boyfriend gets off work in about half an hour we’re off into Liverpool for the christmas market! I’m so excited! I love christmas so much and i know this is going to really put me in the christmas spirit!

  2. The Christmas market this year has certainly improved since last year. I like how all the stalls are in one place this year, and the big bar is back that server hot cider and mulled wine. I really missed it last year.

We had some of the roasted chestnuts at the weekend and they are worth a try. 🙂
