Homemade popcorn

Making popcorn at home is so easy. I find the small bags of popcorn have too much salt and too much oil, also I don’t have a microwave oven at the moment. After trying to find better ways to make popcorn, I finally can say that making popcorn is fun, easy and with great results every time. To make it you only need a couple of spoons of oil, salt and corn kernels.

Corn kernels can be found at supermarkets for £1 the 500g bag and they are also called popping corn. It’s so easy to make and if you have kids, I’m sure they would love it too.

Put the oil and the corn kernels in a pan, stir with a spoon so the kernels are coated with oil. Put the pan on the hob over medium heat. When the corn is starting to pop, put the lid on the pan and wait until all the kernels are popped. It will take only a couple of minutes.

  1. We love making popcorn at home and always have a pack of dried corn in the cupboard ready for impromptu movie nights x

  2. It IS very cheap when you do it like this, a great idea! I just wish I didn’t get the gristle bits caught in my teeth!x

  3. Confession: I usually get my mum to make popcorn homemade style because she makes it so yummy and I wasn’t sure how to do it! I usually buy the bags to do myself, but you’re right, they can be quite oily. I definitely want to try making this myself, thank you for sharing this, Anca 🙂 x

  4. Just wanted to say this method is so awesome and it pops EVERY kernel. Cleanup with the pot is easy if you put water in the pot after dumping the popcorn in a bowl due to the heat and come back to it later.

  5. I love popcorn but never make my own. It would certainly be healthier and cheaper to do it, so I have added it to my shopping list!

  6. Love it! I love popcorn and the best I’ve been able to buy is Tesco own brand sweet version – it’s just like cinema popcorn! But this idea is fab! Will see if I can pickup some kernels next time x
