Today is my birthday. I’ve started celebrating my birthday last week by baking a cake my grandmother used to make for me as a child. It’s my version of her version of a Frankfurter Kranz Cake, sounds funny, but that is the truth. Krantz means walnut(nut) brittle. Only when I’ve tasted the walnut brittle it reminded me of her cakes and it made me a little emotional. We weren’t very close, but that cake brings back so many wonderful memories.
Krantz Cake. You can see the whole recipe on my food blog, if you fancy giving it a try. It’s not hard to make and it’s delicious.
As we are away in London I’ll blog about what we did this weekend probably next week. I still have a few posts from our trip to Edinburgh. Sorry, it’s not a long post, but I don’t have much to say.
Happy birthday to me :))
