Staccups

At BlogOn this year, I was invited to play Staccups against Rebecca @ becster. She won, obviously, I said I will have to “practice” and maybe win next time. So, I was delighted to be sent a game by University Games*.

Staccups

The Staccups game is easy and really entertaining. It can be played by 2 to 4 players. There are 32 StaccupCups and a podium stand spinner. The players share the cups, making sure everybody has a similar number of cup colours, ignoring the top colour. The cups are arranged like in the picture, each cup colour in a stack.

Put the Stand Spinner in the middle of the table and press the button. Now each podium has a start-colour. The players should put cups with the base colour. Now, the lid of the cup that is on the podium, should match the base of the cup placed on top.
At this point, the game can be played in two ways. One is in turns. If a player can’t place a cup, then they miss a turn. I’m yet to play the game like this.
So far, my husband and I played the other version: place the cups as quickly as possible. Having to pick only from the cups on top makes things a bit complicated.

My husband makes a really annoying move, he will place a cup in the stack I’m aiming and this makes me lose my focus. We do get competitive. If, by chance, no cup can be placed, just press the button again to have new base colours. To win, you have to put all the cups before everyone else.

Staccups is available on amazon, Smyths Toys, Argos, Debenhams. I would definitely recommend this game. I think is fun and, now, in the colder months, a fun family game and some treats make the perfect recipe for Hygge.

  1. We’ve seen this game showcased in the local toy shop. My son was much taken with it. It looks like great fun!

  2. Now this sounds like a lot of fun. I am not too sure how good I would be at it, but I think my nieces and nephews would love it x

  3. This looks like a fun family game. I’m quite rubbish at these games, but it would be so much fun to play as a family.
