Harry Potter Games Night

Last night my husband and I went to Harry Potter Games Night, organized by Paladone. I will talk about the games and I also have a surprise for my readers. As both I and my husband got a goodie bag, I’m going to make one of them the prize for a new giveaway. So, if you want to win my goodie bag, enter the giveaway at the end of this post.

First of all, this is my invitation, received by owl post, obviously.

When we’ve arrived, we were assigned to different teams, using the hat, naturally. While we were waiting for the games to start…

Wand making

we made our own wands. I think this is the best activity you can have at a party.

Wand making - painting

The wand needs painting, of course. I liked my husband’s wand a lot. He snapped the wood, so it was more realistic. As we all know, Harry broke  his wand because it was too powerful. So, my husband did the same, as he wanted to protect the world.

Wands left to dry

My wand is nearly painted. I coloured it black. It looks a bit menacing, but I love it. It was quite hard to make the pointy top.

There were many fun games. I had a lovely time playing with my husband and other bloggers. I played Cluedo for the first time I might buy one as it was so much fun.

Games 2

I wasn’t able to take lots of pictures as it was very busy and I forgot, as I was having so much fun.

Me, playing a game

Can you imagine that nobody asked about my costume (jeans&top)? I was sure it will be clear that I was Hermione, ready for a trip to London and mixing with the local muggles.

At the bar it was a hard choice between cocktails.

Red cocktail

But I finally decided on a Love Potion. With Tabasco sauce, tomato juice and chilli, it had a kick. I enjoyed it a lot.

Now it’s time for the giveaway.

giveaway prizes

These is the Harry Potter bundle you can win. In the goodie bags we had a travel mug and a mug each. So, I swapped a mug with a travel mug, because I have too many travel mugs and I also thought that the winner might want to share the mug with their OH.

Harry Potter Light Up Keyring – £7.99
2 x Harry Potter Hogwarts Travel Mug – £11.99

Very Christmas Party

I’ve been invited to the Very Christmas Party last weekend. I will talk about the event and, after that, about the amazing goodie bag I received. All the brands in the goodie bag are available on their website, and, of course, all the party dresses that you see in the pictures.

Very Christmas Party. Mixed clothes and accessories

How lovely is their product showcase display? I love it. It feels glamours, perfect for a Christmas blogging event.

Bloggers at Very Party

I saw some bloggers I already knew and that is always fab, I also met a couple of new bloggers. It’s very nice to have a chat. A couple of lovely ladies from Very asked me for tips for the party season. I had no idea what to say. All the things that went through my mind were more suitable for a talk about fashion for over 80s, like make sure the clothes are the right size. Nobody can see the label, but everybody can see how the clothes look like on you. I still don’t know what party season tips I would give. My approach when it comes to clothes is: feel amazing, feel comfortable. For me, comfortable means wearing high heels, but that is only a plus when it comes to fashion.

My birthday

A few days ago I’ve celebrated my birthday. I received an amazing gift from my husband, and we had a lovely day out.

Cake with drinks, a bunch of flowers and candle

First of all, I’m going to start talking about the cake. I made Tschumi’s Chocolate Cake. It’s a cake made by a Swiss chef to the Royal Household, called Gabriel Tschumi. He made this cake 100 years ago for Queen Mary’s birthday and from that day, this is the Royal birthday cake. I love its story and, after trying the cake, I loved it too. Have a look at the recipe if you fancy trying it.

Gifts, a book and a chocolate birthday card

My husband bought a book for me, something that is always appreciated, but this book is a very special book. I’ve read it when I was a teenager. I think saying that it changed my life sounds a bit much, but this is what happened. I knew I wanted to study Psychology before that, but, after reading the book, I realized that I enjoyed learning about concepts too. The book also made me question things I thought before. I can’t wait to read this book again. My husband said he is eager to read it too.

Besides the book, my husband gave me a lovely chocolate birthday card. I’m yet to try it, as we had a very chocolatey cake, but I will try it soon.

Liverpool Halloween Lantern Carnival

When I saw that Liverpool Halloween Lantern Carnival is happening this weekend, I wanted to go. The lanterns were created by The Lantern Company and is not the first time they created shows like this. I’ve been to two other parades made by them, the one in Sefton park for Halloween five years ago and three years ago for Christmas Parade. I think this one was the best. I enjoyed it a lot.

Enjoy the pictures.

Gifts for Christmas at Metquarter

It’s almost November. While I always wait until the middle of November, after my birthday, to actually buy things for Christmas, I like to look and think of ideas. I was delighted to be invited at the Christmas Press Day to see all the fab gifts for Christmas at Metquarter. If you are from Liverpool, is likely you already know Metquarter, a luxury shopping centre with well-known stores. There is also a SPA, the Sassoon Salon, a few places to have something to eat.

Gifts for Christmas at Metquarter

It was easy to get into the Christmas spirit with a glass of bubbly and with lovely Christmas decor everywhere. I had to pick a few pictures and even so I managed to have 14. Let’s start to talk about the gifts for Christmas at Metquarter.

Gifts for Christmas at Metquarter

Lots of jewellery, something that I think is great as a gift. It can be personal and meaningful without being too personal.

I was delighted to be asked to join in the newest campaign by lightsbyTENA* called TENATalk. The campaign aimes to give us the power to have an honest discussion about our problems, with friends and close family members.

36 percent of women said they would not talk about bladder weakness with their friends and family. That means 1 in 3 women will not talk about it. I think it’s astonishing, in a world where we share so much of our lives online, for everybody to see, we can’t find the courage to talk about something that troubles us with those closest to us.

I mentioned before, in another campaign I did with lights by TENA, Noonetoldme, that women in their 20s can suffer from this. Is something very common, as 1 in 3 women will suffer from bladder weakness at some point in their life, regardless if they gave birth or not. And men can suffer too.

If we combine both stats, this means that 1 in 9 women will suffer from this and she will not feel free to talk about it.

LightsbyTENA made this film with real women who share their “little leak” moments with their friends and how using lights by TENA has helped protect them from little leaks.

One of the things that stood out for me in the clip is “I was really relieved that my friends were experiencing the same things as I did”. That’s the whole point of the campaign, the freedom of being able to talk about bladder weakness as freely as we can talk about sex, something that was taboo only a few decades ago.

It is amazing that, somehow, talking about sneezing, fever, and headache is fine. Everybody can talk to anybody about their cold, is socially acceptable. We might even mention a “tummy ache”. Women can talk about their periods. Why shouldn’t we feel comfortable to talk, with our nearest and dearest, about something that might affect our lives even more than a runny nose does?

It’s hard to change and talk about things that might make us feel embarrassed. Someone I like a lot said, in a group of women, that is pointless to talk online about bladder weakness, that’s for women in their 90s. I remembered this because it was shortly after I went to the Noonetoldme campaign (she was not aware of that). I’m glad for her, even after giving birth a couple of times, she doesn’t have any issues. But I can imagine that someone in the group might have had this issue and maybe they were embarrassed by this. This is what we should change. Is not something to be ashamed of.
