I saw the first sign of spring: a snowdrop. Enjoy!
Yesterday we went for a walk in the city. I am very happy with the weather in UK. As you can see in the photos, the weather is mild. I can put on a skirt and of course, my thin jacket from Kenvelo.
I am sure I will not love everything in UK… but so far I can’t find something bad :))
My first Christmas in UK was very nice and very different. The only Romanian food I was able to make was “cozonac” (it’s similar to the Italian panettone, but with raisins, walnuts and cocoa). Besides this I’ve made houmus, mushrooms with mayonnaise, stuffed eggs and other appetizers. For the main course I had halumi (hubby had something meaty) with baked potatoes and green salad with mozzarella (baby spinach, rocket and watercress). For desert I’ve made a carrot cake. Usually I cook more food and more traditional, but I think this year’s menu was much better.
I wish you all Happy Holidays!
Yesterday we visited Merseyside Maritime Museum and International Slavery Museum. They are in the same building. I liked the Maritime Museum. The story of three ships that sank are very moving. In 3 years (1912 – 1915) three ships sank: Titanic, Lusitania and Empress of Ireland. There is a depict of the people that died and the people that survived in the Titanic.
The gallery “Seized! The Border and Customs uncovered” has a few interactive exhibitions. I really love this type of exhibitions and, for sure, I am not the only one.
We (me, my husband and our dog) had to make 3000+ km by car, because we (mostly I) didn’t want to transport Festus with the airplane and I had to take a lot of plates and cooking stuff. The moment we passed the Romanian border was one I’ll never forget. After that, the trip was very good, we entered the highways and we traveled thru Hungary, Austria, Germany, Holland, Belgium and France. We’ve made a lot of stops on our way to UK, but we took pictures only in Austria, near Linz.
We decided to take the ferry…so I had the opportunity to discover I would never take a cruise or the ferry for the 2nd time. Our dog, Festus, had the same opinion considering how he looked like when we arrived at the car.
