We’ve celebrated Valentine’s Day on and off since we’ve met. I realized this week that I never even blogged about it when I was looking in the archives wondering what we did last year, I know that 2 years ago he secretly booked a table at a restaurant I liked.
This year it was our first traditional Valentine’s Day with flowers, cards, chocolates and home cooked meals and I want to remember it.
Our cards sit nicely on the fireplace and near them is the display we’ve got for the wedding rings and engagement ring. The rings became a little too big after we’ve lost weight and we fear we might loose them. So we kept them in a box, but we want to see them, hence the display.
The flowers, chrysanthemums, are so special for us as they were the first flowers hubby gave me, 12 years ago. I loved them and I’m happy he found some in a sea of red roses.

Hubby doesn’t like beetroot and we talked about this cake for a while, but in the end he said the cake is very good and that I should bake it again. So, this is an easy way to make people who don’t like beetroot eat it, just add lots of dark chocolate and some sugar. 🙂
I baked scones too, intended to make with rhubarb for pink, but ended up with cherry scones. Lovely with clotted cream and raspberry jam.
Besides this, with no picture, we’ve prepared potato mash with halloumi, peanut butter and chilli mushrooms (I’ll post the recipe next time, it’s so yummy) and pizza in the evening. We’ve watched movies and talked and walked the dog and talked. It was a lovely day, shared with a very very special man.
