Pick Your Own

For this month’s farm, my husband and I decided to go for pick your own fruits. We’ve been to Claremont farm. It was the first time I’ve been on a field to pick up fruits and I loved it.
During the weekends they mention on their website that they offer tractor rides and it seemed fun, but we weren’t available in the weekend. We got to the farm one hour and a half before closing and I would say it was just enough.

This is how many strawberries we’ve picked, around 3kg. We also picked raspberries and tayberries.

We were directed to the strawberry fields, that were marked with these strawberry flags. There were a few people picking fruits. We picked a row each, took some pictures and we’ve started picking up the strawberries.

This is how it all started…

After spending a little over one hour, we went to the farm shop. They have lots of produce. They are making their own cheese, but it’s not vegetarian, so we didn’t buy any. We bought only eggs and a few fresh potatoes. It’s funny, I buy potatoes every time I go to a farm shop.

This is what we bought. The fruits from the fields were £14. At the shop we’ve spend another £2. The eggs are local and free range, from an woodland egg farm. The hens roam all day in the woodlands foraging.

We also petted one of the pigs. He was extremely sociable and keen to have a belly rub. He enjoyed the petting a lot, it was lovely. The other two weren’t that bothered with us, but not eager to interact with us.

  1. Strawberry picking is such a lovely thing as along as you don’t have to do it too much. I once went strawberry picking in an old farm. The strawberry fields could be just as well called meadows as among strawberry plants you could also see all kinds of wild flowers and little frog babies.
But the berries were delicious and there was some explorer’s magic to this place. Funny how looking back it all seems even more magical than in the moment.

  2. Oh gosh, I haven’t been strawberry picking in yonks! What a lovely thing to do for a bright summer’s day!

  3. oh wow those strawberries look ripe and delicious, I so want to go to a pick your own farm. Never done it before and sounds really fun

  4. I used to do this when I was a kid with my aunt and uncle. I loved it.
