This month I’ve been to Diglake Farm Shop for my monthly farm shop visit. As farms are getting further from me it’s a little bit more difficult to go to new ones and I find myself going to the ones that I already know. Last month I’ve missed the monthly farm post for this reason.
Diglake Farm has been managed by the same family for generations. There are three generations working there today and that is lovely. They started by growing seasonal vegetables for the market. In 1971 they started selling their produce directly to the public. In the beginning they had a trailer at the front of the farm, then one of the stables was used as a farm shop.
One of the things I love when I go to farm shops is the way the vegetables are displayed, with care.
The farm shop is huge. There are lots of British veggies and fruits, including tomatoes and strawberries.
A bit expensive, but they aren’t exactly in season.
Of course there is imported produce too, the one that can’t be grown here. In the back there are lots and lots of jars of jam, all sort of types of curds, chutneys and sauces. The jam was looking lovely, I don’t usually buy jam as I make my own. Yesterday I’ve made a batch of jam, only a few jars.
They also stock meats, biscuits and ice cream from the Cheshire Ice Cream Farm.
This is what we bought: half of dozen of duck eggs, carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, strawberries, red delicious apples and yams. All the produce was just shy of £15.
If you want to visit Diglake Farm Shop, you can find it in Southport Road, Scarisbrick, West Lancashire L40 8HF. The shop is open 7 days a week, from 9am – 5pm.
Hi are you doing order and collect, or do you do delivery ?
I was a customer. I have no idea what the farm is doing at the moment. Try to find them online and contact them directly.
It does look good! I like the idea of buying from a farm shop!
