3 movies I loved last year

I don’t talk a lot about the movies I’m watching as it’s not my favourite passtime. But I want to talk about 3 movies I loved last year: The theory of everything, The imitation game and The Scandalous Lady W.

The theory of everything
I watched a TV series with the famous physicist Stephen Hawking and I’m a huge fan. So I was excited to see The theory of everything, a movie about his life, his years in Cambridge, how he met and married his wife. It was a fascinating movie to watch. The lead actor, Eddie Redmayne, won an Oscar that I think was very well deserved. I didn’t know anything about Hawking’s life and it was an emotional movie.

The imitation game
The imitation game is another movie after a real story. I heard about the Turing machines as a child from my mother when she was talking about what she learned at Uni. My husband learned about them too at University. But we weren’t aware of the story behind the Turing machines, the enigma code. It’s moving and upsetting what happened with him. The movie is superb and emotional. I can’t recommend it enough.

The Scandalous Lady W
The third movie I’m talking about is another real life story, The Scandalous Lady W. As a teenager I’ve read hundreds of fictional historical dramas and I was aware of the difficulties faced by British aristocracy. Funnily people assume that they had dances and servants and a very easy life when in fact they had many problems to face and, in ways, less options than their servants had.

This year I’m looking forward to Star Wars and The Danish girl. At the moment hubby and I are watching the first 6 episodes of Star Wars and only after that we are going to see episode 7. Have you seen these movies? Did you enjoy them?

  1. I’m not a huge cinema or TV lover. I have just caught up on game of thrones however and excited for the next series

  2. I hardly watched any films or tv last year and gutted I missed that Aneurin Barnard one!

  3. The Imitation Game and The Theory of Everything were definitely two of my favourite films of last year. Redmayne and Cumberbatch are both actors I look up to incredibly and they’ve done excellent jobs in both films! I thoroughly enjoyed The Babadook from last year as well as The Grand Budapest Hotel!

  4. I haven’t seen any of the movies you’ve mentioned but I really want to see The Theory of Everything. I saw a piece of the BBC drama Hawking (had Benedict Cumberbatch as Hawking) but I didn’t manage to catch it all. It looked fantastic!

I have seen all of Star Wars but I’m not a huge fan. I did go see the newest one and yes it’s a good film but I’m just not a fan of the franchise. x

  5. The only one of these films I have seen is the Imitation Game and you are right, it is brilliant!x

  6. I am so angry at myself for not watching the Imitation Game or The Theory of Everything yet! I know it’s incredible but I just don’t have the time! Gaaaah
