Sundry Reviews

The Vegan Kind

Instead of reviewing the Vegan Kind Subscription box last month, I’ve decided to talk about it now and share my thoughts on all the boxes. This will be the last post on the subscription, but I did not stop it, I renewed it for another 6 months. The beauty one I stopped for a short while mainly because I have too many cosmetics waiting to be used. This is not a reflection on the quality of the products, just on how many products I tend to buy. I might take pictures of the subscription and share it on Instagram this year, but I will not try a monthly review due to lack of time.

The Vegan Kind. December Box

The Vegan Kind. December lifestyle box:

NOMO Cookie Dough Reindeer 30g – RRP £0.93 – well, is a Nomo, a brand I love and with a cute shape, what’s not to like. I would have bought them.

Mackie’s of Scotland Boxing Day Curry Crisps 150g – RRP £1.39 – a big bag of crisps which were really good. They were not too spicy, which was a bit of a concern. I would happily buy these again.

New England Cookie Co Hand Baked Mince Pie Shorties 150g – RRP £2.29 – I loved the sound of these. We took them with us to London and they are still there, waiting for us.

Mighty Fine Vegan Salted Caramel Honeycomb Dips 90g – RRP £2.99 – sweet and salty, a trendy combination.

Harper’s Candles Gingerbread Candle – RRP £5 – Christmas candles are lovely. We bought one before receiving the subscription, but this one smelled more intense, so I would buy this again and not the other one (known brand).

Hill Gingerbread Men 3 pack – RRP £0.30 – these were a bit too crunky for me, but my husband liked them, so it’s a matter of preference. They were fun and xmassy.

Thingies Cheese Toastie Corn Snack 11g – RRP £0.20 – I love corn snacks and these were delicious. I would buy these again without any doubt.

Wagamama Teriyaki Stir Fry Sauce 120g – RRP £1.15 – I am yet to try it.

the Vegan Kind

This is a round-up of all the The Vegan Kind boxes for this year, only the last beauty box is missing. Looking at this picture I can say that I used many of the items in the beauty boxes, about 70% and I will use the rest too. As for the lifestyle box, it’s just so nice. We don’t eat all the snacks exactly when it arrives, but we are keeping them in a cupboard, ready for the next movie night. Having this subscription meant that I tried brands I was curious about but didn’t bought before, some of which I will (or already) bought.

Like all subscription, not knowing that you get makes them even more interesting. I highly recommend getting one or two, regardless if you are vegan or not. This is a small company, stocking a lot of small companies, and if that is something you care about, do keep it in mind. The price for the box + shipping means that the savings are not huge, but each box has a higher value than what people pay for.

Lifestyle boxes are between £8 and £10, depending on the subscription, and £3.95 for P&P. Every month they give a donation to a charity. Beauty boxes are between £12.75 and £15, depending on the subscription, and £3.95 for P&P. The beauty boxes are every other month. They give a donation to a charity too.

  1. I received one of these for Christmas from my penpal Katie! I loved the cheesy cornsnacks and the crisps were excellent. My husband polished off the gingerbread men but I don’t think I’ve eaten any more of it yet.
It was quite a nice surprise when it turned up!

  2. I love food scented candles and the gingerbread sounds wonderful. Although I would be willing to sample everything in this box, I think the salted caramel treats tempt me the most.

Looking back at your boxes, I see several Bosh! items. Turns out one of the blogs I’ve been reading lately is written by the father of one of the Bosh! founders. I’ve been tempted to order one of their cookbooks.

    1. I like Bosh items too, bought some besides the ones in the boxes. I have 2 cookbooks from them and they are good, the recipes are not too complicated.

  3. Lovely selection! We had the curry crisps in the Degustabox advent calendar. My sons loved it, so I would definitely buy them if I come across them. The gingerbread candle sounds wonderful.
I tried many Teriyaki sauces, as my family likes Teriyaki tofu, and Wagamama is not my favourite.
