Celebrity MUA Masterclass

This weekend I’ve been invited to Celebrity MUA Masterclass at St. George’s Hall, Liverpool. I was so excited to attend. Celebrity MUA Masterclass is organized in association with Debenhams Beauty Club.
There are two more events in the following months, on 22nd April in London and on 24th June in Manchester. The location, in Liverpool, was great. It’s in the centre, in a beautiful building. The only downside was that it was cold, especially for me in a midi skirt. This shouldn’t be an issue with the other events. More heating was brought in and by the end of the day, the temperature was just right.

While I’m using makeup, I don’t tend to think too much about it. I don’t have the latest brands and I’m not too bothered by trends. This also means my approach to makeup is a bit old school. This must be the main reason I’m so happy I’ve attended the masterclass. I’ve taken some notes, see in the post.

Celebrity MUA Masterclass

The event started with a demonstration by MUA Gary Cockerill. It was great, he talked a lot about different brushes and sponges he use and said why he prefers that one instead of the another and so on.

I mentioned a few tips I’ve picked up at Celebrity MUA Masterclass. Some are quite common sense rules, like doing the eyes first and the rest of the face after that. I was stuck in the: foundation – eyes – powder routine for too long. Now, I’m going to change things a bit and start with the eyes.
Another thing I’ve picked up was the difference between using a wet sponge or a dry one. The dry is better for more coverage. I’ve used a wet sponge every time, now I’m going to use wet or dry depending on what I want to achieve. Also, is better to tap the sponge instead of swipe it.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that I’ve been doing some of the things he talked about, like using foundation for the lips, as a primer.

Doesn’t she look amazing? I love this look.

Make Up

This is the makeup Gary used. I wish I had a makeup table like this at home.

Celebrity MUA Masterclass

Internet make-up sensation Alexis Stone did a drag queen makeup.

After these two makeup masterclasses, we went to have lunch. The lunch was provided by Celebrity MUA Masterclass and it is included in the ticket price. There were a few vegetarian options, desserts, snacks, and drinks.
In the lunch break I stopped to see the stands.

The event finished with another makeup masterclass with Gary. It was an really interesting event.

Celebrity MUA Masterclass Goody Bag

This is the goody bag. As you can see, there is plenty of makeup. I like that I’ll try new makeup I haven’t used before. For example, yesterday I’ve used the Unicorn Holographic lipstick for the first time and I’ve been impressed. It’s not something I would have bought for myself, but I’m glad I’ve tried it because is great. I like it a lot.

Not all goody bags were the same. Most of the items were the same, but one or two would be different.

I was invited. All opinions are my own.

  1. This does sound like fun! I am hopeless at makeup! Nice to have a goodie bag too! Wow, that drag queen’s lips are luscious!

  2. It sounds like a lovely event, I know that I’m stuck in the same make up routine most of the time so it’s good to get some hints about what to do differently.
