Cwmorthin Waterfall

Cwmorthin Waterfall is a free attraction in Wales. It is a beautiful place and there are a few walks. The steam train passes nearby, so you might seen it depending on the time of day. The mountains of slate are so impressive, making it even more fascinating. There is a nearby Lakeside Café, to have some drinks. There are plenty of car parks and one can walk as much or as little as they want. It’s good for kids and dogs too.
Enjoy the pictures.

  1. Love this part of the world, although we don’t get up there to visit our friends in Llandudno as much as we would like these days.

You mention the steam train and I can’t quite remember if this is the Snowdon Mountain Railway, or a different service. If you haven’t made that journey and you are ever in North Wales again, then it is well worthwhile, although do try to not do as we did and pick the most wet, cold and misty day of summer to do it!

    Beautiful pictures, as always 🙂

    1. The Snowdon Mountain Railway is indeed near Llandudno. We were a bit further south, towards Harlech – Porthmadog. We went with the Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog railway, I will share pictures soon. It was amazing.
I would love to take a ride on Snowdon as well. Travelling slowly with a steam train is wonderful, I enjoyed it a lot.

      1. We have a couple of steam railways down in this part of the world and a few years back, relatives bought us afternoon tea vouchers for a trip one of them. I have to admit that we had a thoroughly good time and the tea was one of the best we have ever had and great service too! It all felt rather decadent and Agatha Christie(ish). We were just waiting for the discovery of a body! 🙂

        1. You are right, it feels Agatha Christie(ish). We had some food on our way back, but from the supermarket as their picnic basket had no vegan options. I would love afternoon tea on a steam train, it sounds fantastic! 😀

    1. We spent much more time there than we intended, just because it was so beautiful and peaceful. We walked for 1 hour and a half.
