Mary Wortley Montagu Book Giveaway

It’s been an year since my last giveaway and I’m very excited to share this giveaway with my readers. I read last month a fantastic book, The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu by Jo Willett and that is the main prize for this giveaway. As one can easily imagine, reading a book is often sweeter with some chocolate bars, so I’ve decided to include 2 Love Raw chocolate bars.

Mary Wortley Montagu Book Giveaway

I gave 5 stars to The Pioneering Life of Mary Wortley Montagu by Jo Willett. It’s a wonderful book about a remarkable woman who lived over 300 years ago and who made a bold choice despite criticism, to inoculate her daughter against smallpox in 1721, following a Turkish custom. Her daughter was the first person to be inoculated in the west, which is extraordinary. I reviewed the book on Coffee&Books, so check my other website if you want to read more details about the book.
My husband and I love Love Raw chocolate. It’s vegan, which is pretty amazing. I’ve included in the price a Cre&m® Wafer bar and a White Choc Cre&m® Wafer, their newest addition.

  1. This sounds like a very interesting read. I always enjoy biographies, especially of womenn who lived unusual lives.

  2. It just goes to show women have always been strong determined and knowledgeable. I love to read about inspiring women making a difference in a very male dominated world.

    1. This looks like an interesting read, I love biographies of strong women challenging the norms of their time.

  3. Lovely competition and this sounds like a really interesting book. It’s always nice to read about real peoples stories x

  4. Hello, thank you for the chance to win, this is a great prize. I heard about Mary Wortley Montagu on ‘Woman’s Hour’ the other day and it was the first time I had heard about her so I would love to find out more. Thank you and fingers crossed!

  5. This sounds lovely! I’d love to enter but it would be wasted on me as I don’t have much time to read so it’s best going to a home that will have time for it!

Hope you had a great bank holiday!

  6. Reading this review, I was reminded of Catherine the Great of Russia – she injected herself with small pox to stimulate the antibodies too. I’ve heard of Mary Wortley Montagu but not for this reason so I’d be fascinated to find out more about her – as well as try some delicious chocolate! Great giveaway, Anca, thank you xx

    1. Good luck! 🙂 I knew about Catherine the Great and I will look for a biography of hers, as I am curious about her too.

  7. I ADORE LOVE RAW and the wafer bars are my fave but haven’t tried the white ones yet – only been drooling over them on instagram. But even more importantly – this book! Wow – I adore biographies and autobiographies and even my daughter is hugely inspired by hearing about amazing women in history like this (we’re currently reading “Becoming” together – the version adapted for younger readers. ) With scientists in our family too (daddy is currently working in research trying to do the impossible in finding a cure for JIA which my daughter has) it is bound to be a truly inspirational read.

  8. i’ve never tried love raw chocolate bars. The name Mary Wortley Montagu does ring a bell with me. Maybe it’s the surname Montagu. I am history undergraduate, so I might have come across her a long time ago.
