The Konjac Sponge

I got this Konjac Sponge last month and I’ve been using it almost daily. I like it a lot, so I though I should talk about it on my blog.
The sponge I have is from Konjac Sponge Company and it’s the French Green Clay Konjac Facial Puff Sponge, at £8.99. The sponge is 100% Natural, free from colouring and additives.

You might have heard about Konjac as a low-calories pasta. It’s a sort of potato, a perennial plant from Asia that was used for hundreds of years.

I feel it cleans the face very good. I’ve been using it with and without cleanser and I think the results are pretty much similar. It exfoliates the skin gently and it feels smooth and clean. Because it’s similar, I usually use it without cleanser.
My sponge is made with French green clay. This clay is a strong antiseptic and it’s recommended for combination skin, like mine. To use the sponge, keep it for less than 1 minute in the water until it gets soft. When it’s dry it will harden.

To make sure the sponge will last as much as possible, air-dry the sponge after using. Sounds more complicated than it actually is, I just hang it on the taps in the bathtub. I imagine this is a more hygienic way to keep the sponge anyway. With care, the sponge should last for 3 months. It can be put in the compost bin. Another use, according to their website is for the garden, to help water the plants by holding moisture. I might try it in a couple of months.
The sponge has the Leaping Bunny certification and another one from the Vegan Society.

I like the sponge a lot and I will get more of these sponges in the future. Have you tried The Konjac Sponge before?

  1. Not heard of this sponge before but they look great. Love that it is anti septic.

  2. I quite like the sound of this for facial cleansing if it helps exfoliate too. Thanks for sharing, will check it out as I’ve never come across this or the brand before.

  3. I haven’t heard of this before but I do like the sound of it, especially the fact it’s got the leaping bunny certification too, that’s always a bonus and it does sound nice and soothing too! Will have to keep an eye out for it. – Tasha
