I blogged two years ago about Pastan. At that point they only had one restaurant, in Barbican, here is my review. We’ve been there quite a few times when we were living in London. In the meantime, they opened 4 more restaurants, in Brighton, Bristol, Manchester, and Barcelona, Spain. We went to Pastan Manchester before a show and it was lovely.
I went for Comfort you, which is a Pastan signature dish. A vegan Mac&Cheese with crispy onions & toasted breadcrumbs. I also asked for truffle oil and lardons. It was very good.
My husband ordered Napoli, a traditional Neapolitan dish (‘Puttanesca’) made with Scialatielli pasta. The sauce has black olive paste, a rich tomato sauce, olive oil, garlic, and capers. He liked it.
As expected, we went for the bigger size of doughnuts. These are amazing. They were just as Jerome makes them in Barbican restaurant.
The doughnuts are filled with Biscoff paste which melts when they are fried. So yummy! Unsurprisingly, when we were there, everybody ordered the mini-doughnuts. It must be one of their best sellers.
Pastan Manchester has replaced a previous vegan restaurant that did not survive the COVID lockdowns. Previously it was a busy and popular place, so the location is really good. We went on a weekday and the restaurant was quite busy.
The address is 18 Cross St, Manchester, M2 7AE. There is plenty of nearby on-street parking in the evenings during weekdays. At lunchtime they do offers quite regularly, which is a main, a drink, and 2 mini-doughnuts.
What a lovely place to eat, the food looks so good especially that mac & cheese and those doughnuts have my mouth watering! Yum, yum! x

That looks delicious!!! I would eat any of that!
If I ever make it back to that part of the world, this place will have to be on my list. Their food looks amazing! Both entrees look delicious, but I would opt for what your husband got.
