La Maison du Chats is a cat cafe in Montpellier. We were visiting the city and wanted to go for lunch at a veggie restaurant. It was closed because the owner was on holiday, so we moved along the street. A few doors down it was La Maison du Chats! They had a table for us and we had an amazing vegan lunch and enjoyed the company of a few cats as well. We both loved it!
This cafe is close to the centre, but not on a main street, so it was a lovely find. They do have a lot of foreign visitors I think because they had some items in English and the waitress was speaking English good.
We picked a table where 2 cats were already sleeping. This lovely one slept for the whole time we were there. Just changed the position once and that was it.
This little one slept, but at some point left and went for lunch as well. She came back licking her paws and cleaning her face.
The fluffy cat was thirsty and had a drink from one of water glass of a very-happy guest. After that she jumped off the table to go and rest.
Another sleeping cat, who was near the entrance. Everybody was petting her, when they entered or exited the cafe.
They have a set lunch menu with a cold drink, hot drink, main, and dessert. The main was not vegan as it had some cheese, but they made one for us without cheese. It was delicious without cheese I might add. The cake, in the picture below, was vegan, and that was a lovely surprise. They also had vegan milk for coffee/lattes.
This is how we had our lunch, between 2 cats sleeping. None tried to jump on the table, which was both lovely and surprising.
After her lunch, the cat who stayed with us through ours, came back to steal my husband’s seat. It meant he could pet her. We were so happy that she came back to stay with us at the table.
Petting the friendly sleeping/relaxing cat. She was big enough for both of us to pet her at the same time. She loved it.
The decor of the cafe is wonderful. They are in an old building and you can see that gorgeous ceiling.
I have never been to a cat cafe (unless you count the never-ending cat cafe in my own house!) I think I would love this, especially traveling.
What a great lunch out and the cat’s just added to the experience. They look so happy just doing their own thing. The food looks delicious.
I would love this! How fortunate for you that your original cafe choice was closed! The food looks quite tasty, too.
Yes, we were lucky that the other one was closed, as we might not have passed by the cat cafe.
The food was great, it has a beetroot houmous with lots of veggies, avocado, salad, crunchy oat on top. The cake was moist and it had a crumble on top, very nice.
