Isle of Wight

Views on the Isle of Wight is a picture heavy post, as expected, without too many details. I already blogged about Model Village Godshill, so check that post for more details and lots of pictures. I will post separately about Carisbrooke Castle and Osborne House, most likely next month. Another post will be about the Butterfly World and a round-up of vegan food, which will include some beautiful pictures of the places we’ve had lunch/dinner.

On our way to the island, on the ferry.

This is the entrance to Carisbrooke Castle, a beautiful location on the isle, well worth visiting.

Osborne House was the main reason we went on the Isle of Wight.

Model Village Godshill, followed by 3 pictures from the actual village.

The views from the road are stunning. There are, conveniently, a few car parks.

This is a picture from Newport, followed by another two from the same city.

The Needles is a landmark on the island that is so well known. There are cafes and gift shops. There is also a chairlift, rides for children, and boat trips. When we went, there were no boat trips, maybe they were later or not on day as it rained a few hours later. We did go on the chairlift and that was lovely.

The church was one of those things we stopped to see without planning for it. It is St Agnes Church, in the Freshwater Bay area of West Wight. It is a relatively new build, from 1908, funded by public subscription, which is a bit unusual considering its thatched roof.

I like that it had this message in support of Ukraine.

Compton Bay and Downs, managed by the National Trust, offers amazing views.

Have you been on the Isle of Wight? If not, I would recommend a visit, it is a lovely place.

    1. The dog was either old or sick, or at least that was my impression. He seemed very content staying on the window sill and looking at people passing by. I loved the care he was given by his owners.
