Capesthorne

Capesthorne dates back to 1719 and it is a beautiful house that can be visited free-flow. They have a cafe, with coffee, but no vegan options. Also, the park and gardens are beautiful to see. We visited on a rather wet day, so we didn’t walk in the park, but only in the gardens. The chapel is also open for the visitors.

Capesthorne

As photography is not allowed inside due to it being a family home, I only took pictures outside. You can check their website for pictures of their beautiful rooms. The house belongs to the Bromley-Davenports. The house is a museum for a limited time in the warmer months, but also is available for weddings. They also offer accommodation, and, even more, there is a caravan park.

 Entrance to Capesthorne

There were guides in the rooms and they told us stories about some of the pieces in the Hall. One of the thing I loved best was the Roman chair that they found in the garden. It is 2000 years old and looks unusual.

The Cafe is on the right, while the chapel is beyond those trees in the middle of the picture, and on the left is the lake.

View from cafe

We had a coffee and tea. The conservatory part of the cafe was full, but the rest of the cafe is nice. It’s rather unfortunate about the vegan options.

That bridge is stunning. It leads to the forest walk.

  1. That beautiful window, the grounds and the chapel are the parts that appeal to me most. Ill have to check out the website for the interiors! Looks like a great visit!

    1. Considering all are listed buildings which comes with a lot of red tape, the costs are even higher than a similar size modern building. This is why they have to transform their homes into museum/wedding venue and use it for filming too. It must be a hard choice, but it is one that allows the home to remain in the family.
