Domivka is an animal charity in Lviv. I shared pictures from when I volunteered with them for cat sitting. In November we went back and had a proper look at the whole shelter. This is one of two they have. All the animals in the shelter are rescued from abuse cases or from where battles are on the frontlines. If you want to see their work, check their Instagram account, they are updating it daily.
If you want and can make a donation, they have a paypal account listed if you click on the first link in their linktree shared on Instagram. They are fully funded by donations and they organise events at their shelter to fundraise. As always, I need to say that no donation is too small. They buy a small can of cat food with 50p. So, you see, even £1 or $1 can make a difference, especially in Ukraine, where the costs are much lower. If you can’t donate, follow them, like their posts, share one of their stories. The Ukrainians are under attack and there are air alerts often, even in Lviv, but they are donating and taking care so nicely of injured animals. Show them a bit of love and support.

What a wonderful charity!
We have a family locally who have been collecting for Ukraine for the last couple of years and every couple of months they take a van to drop off donations. Recently they collected a load of pet food and animal things and said they were dropping it off to a animal shelter. I wonder if it was the same one.
I just expected to see cats and dogs so the birds were quite a surprise. x

I always think people underestimate the impact of war on animals (if it occurs to them at all) so thank you for sharing these photos and the suggestions for donations. That racoon has the saddest, most fearful eyes. 🙁
Yes, the war has such a significant impact on animals: pets, livestock, and wild. The staff is doing their best to care for them, but, like all animal charities, struggle to get funds. I will visit them in the future and share more pictures from Domivka.
What a wide variety of creatures! I love the bird with its sparkly glove. (a raven or crow of some type?)

I think it was a pair of ravens, so smart. The bird either was gifted the glove by a child, or, more likely, stole it when a child put their fingers in the cage. When we were there, a family was visiting with their young daughter. It is like a small zoo, nice and lovely. That also gives opportunities tot he ravens to pick stuff from visitors, like gloves. 😀
In the picture above the castle is another raven/crow type of bird. It was a bunch of them in the enclosure and they had a lot of walnuts, which they were busy cracking themselves, by throwing them to the ground or hitting the walnut on something hard, like a big branch. It kept them busy and happy.
We have crows here and they really are quite intelligent birds. I also know they like (to steal) bright, glittery objects. I bet these were fun to watch in action.
