Our new porch is looking great and the first thing I am sharing from our construction project is the mirror decoration. Even before starting to work on the foundations, we knew where the mirror will be and how it will look like. We thought of how we were using the previous porch, what was missing, and how to make it better.
There are only a few minor things still to do, like deciding on a bench with a shoe rack. We are not in a hurry though. The porch has some really lovely features: long and narrow windows, a high ceiling, beautifully painted with three types of green, a modern and interesting light, and this gorgeous mirror.

I wanted a decorated mirror, with an organic shape. I also wanted to decorate it with seasonal flowers. Of course, the decorations are made with artificial flowers. In early December I will take down all the leaves and flowers and decorate it with a wintery theme – white and red, most likely. It took about an hour to do and it looks so beautiful that I am sure it will be a delight to do this again, for winter, spring, and summer. Next autumn I will reuse these flowers, but it will be different, as I will not try to replicate the same design as this time.

It is very easy to make something like this. All you need is a mirror with a minimalist frame, artificial leaves and flowers, and a piece of foam. I looked into the different options when it came to foam and the most suitable is a pipe foam. It is flexible, the perfect size and shape, and very cheap. Foam like this is available at local DIY stores or a place like B&Q. I also used a poker to make small idents into the foam for the leaves that had a softer stem. First step was to put the foam on the mirror, looked at how big I wanted it to be and then cut it to size.
I started with the leaves, the bigger ones on a branch, and with a colour. Then I added the next ones, another colour, and so on. I bought only a branch of each, so there is a lot of diversity, making the bouquet better. I’ve added the leaves on the edges, to point up and down, so that the foam was nicely covered. After finishing with the leaves for the mirror decoration, I’ve added a few small bunches of flowers. The last thing to go on the foam was the big flowers. These made such a big difference.
I can say that I’m very happy with how the mirror looks. It completely transformed the porch. Of course, I am looking forward to do the next designs.

This is such a beautiful idea and I love the fact you’re going to reuse the flowers again but in a new way- that’s such a great creative challenge! Your design is striking! I love the wall pattern too!
This is beautiful, Anca. I love how it followed the shape of the mirror (which is also very attractive). This will be fun to see how you change it for the seasons!
The mirror looks beautiful with the flowers around it. That’s what we’re missing near the front door, I would love to be able to check myself before I open the front door. x

This is so clever! I love things that can be changed out monthly/seasonally. You have done a beautiful job with your fall arrangement and I hope you’ll share it with us each time you change it.

Thank you. I am very happy with how it turned out. It’s exactly what I wanted.
