I made a selection of photos I haven’t shared before, from my last trip to Lviv. Only a few need a short description.

This is the Youth Library in the city centre – Rynok Square – where, on the first floor, camo nets are being made.

A person at the window, observing the daily minute of silence.

A woman is reading the obituaries of fallen soldiers. These are changed often, so more soldiers can be remembered.

People are having kebab cooked with the help of the generator in front of the restaurant, during a scheduled power outage.

Children on a school trip.

This is a flower shop.

The Opera House showcasing the newest ballet performance, based on Ukrainian folklore.

This is a random café I went in, just a few minutes from my flat.

Roshen is the former president’s business. They manufacture chocolates and sweets.

Wonderful photos! I find your photos fascinating and brilliant that people are just getting on with everyday life! You are showing the real Ukraine. Thank you for sharing.

I echo what Jeanie says. You’ve made Ukraine and what the people are dealing with feel more personal. These are wonderful photos. I like the display in front of the Roshen building.

The Roshen shops are always beautifully decorated, but this display is just stunning.
I agree wholeheadrtedly with what both Kelly and Jeanie says- you have made us really understand what it feels to be there and to see the strength of spirit! It’s amazing! I loved the decorations- the big bow was really fun! I’d love to see that ballet!
I’ve come to think of Lviv as your second home and I am grateful you have introduced us all to the Ukraine behind the front lines and the bombs. Not that there isn’t the same terror and commitment in so many ways, but in that it shows what people are fighting for. You make Ukraine very real and that’s wonderful.
Thank you for your words, they mean a lot. xx
