Puzzles

Today I am talking about 3 types of puzzles. I will start with the one that I created, My Ravensburger, followed by 2 types that can be bought – Cluedo and Wasgij. Wasgij has 2 puzzles, one with a picture and its pair that needs to be made to be seen. This means that there are spoilers in the post. If you haven’t seen this kind of puzzles, I think it is worth reading all the post and seeing all 3, as there are plenty more similar puzzles on the market. These make for a wonderful gift too.

My Ravensburger

First of all, My Ravensburger puzzle. I gave it the title Sweet 2024 because it is made from desserts we’ve had through the year. I used Photoshop to crop the desserts from pictures we’ve taken and to make the collage. This is difficult to make for those who do not use Photoshop, but there are plenty of editing options and, of course, the simplest is to use a picture as it was taken on the phone or with the camera.

There are a few companies that make personalised puzzles, but I wanted the quality of Ravensburger and the price difference wasn’t that much. Also, I wanted a 500 pieces puzzle because I knew that my husband will like this and will want to display it in the home office. I was right and this means that spending a few extra £ on a great quality piece was definitely worth it.

The puzzle was made and sent from Germany within a week, even on a busier time of year, in November. I liked how it arrived, in plain packaging. The box was lovely and I could choose from 2 backgrounds for it. As I made the puzzle with a green background I felt it looked better with a green box too. They have different backgrounds for occasions, which is great.

My Ravensburger details

I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing if the puzzle will be ok, if it will be too difficult or too easy. It was neither, luckily. I liked creating the artwork for the puzzle and assembling the puzzle with my husband. Now the puzzle is on display and it looks lovely.

Cluedo

Cluedo was a puzzle we bought from TK Maxx. It has a story of a few pages which needs to be read. Underneath is the full picture. The murder weapon is clear and so is where the murder took place. I liked making this. The only downside with it was the size, a bit too big for our puzzle carrier.

Wasgij puzzles

Wasgij puzzles are something I had no idea about. At a Ukrainian event I saw this puzzle and bought it, as it was for charity and the puzzle was in its wrapping. I had no idea at that point that there are 2 puzzles in the box. One is the picture on the box and the second one is what the reindeer sees. It was so much fun making these that we bought another set, with a Christmas theme. My husband glued them and we are going to use them as decoration for Christmas. These are too funny not to display.

Wasgij - Elf Inspection - both

These are the 2 puzzles of Elf Inspection. I love that the reindeer sees the backs of Santa and Mrs. Santa. The images are so well made, with lots and lots of details. Having the first picture helps a bit, as it is easy to find the sides.

Wasgij - Santa Dash

The second Wasgij puzzle with a Christmas theme we’ve got was Santa Dash. I love their shocked faces, the dog is hilarious. In the picture below you can see both puzzles. The second one is what the lady in blue in the middle of the picture sees. Having lots and lots of Santas with their red outfits was a bit of a challenge, but not too bad. It was another great puzzle to make. We both liked it very much.

Have you tried any of these 3 types of puzzles? Are you tempted to get any in the future?

  1. I like all your puzzles!! Ravensburger is a good quality brand and I didn’t realize they offered personalize puzzles until I saw yours. I’ve worked a few from other places.

I sorted through my puzzles recently and see that I have a couple that are “mystery puzzles”. I’ve already worked the one I got for Christmas (I’ll post about it before too long) and now need to catch up with my others.

I’ve seen Wasgij puzzles (jigsaw backwards!) for sale from my favorite puzzle company, but don’t think Ii’ve seen ones that have double puzzles in them. Yours look fun!

    1. I had no idea they do personalised puzzles until I was looking for options for mine. I would order from them again without any doubt.
The Wasgij were fun to make, I love it. They have different themes, like “dates”, so we might get that one for Valentine’s Day.
