Sand animation. The Snow Queen and Christmas by Oksana Merhut. She is a Ukrainian artist who made a tour of UK as she is raising funds for her husband’s military unit. It was so unusual and lovely, my husband and I had a great time watching her. The show was in Ukrainian and aimed at children, but it was such a wonderful experience that we liked it very much. As it was visual we could understand what was happening even if we didn’t understand the words. The show ended with a few carols we recognised and a religious Christmas themed animation.

To get a more accurate picture of what is happening in a sand animation show, check my Instagram post which has a short, 1 minute clip.

Have you seen anything like this before? I’ve loved watching her.

the art looks beautiful, Anca. I’ll try to find your clip!
I’ve not seen anything like this and I find it fascinating and beautiful! I think I would enjoy seeing it live!

This sounds like a lovely show. She is amazing and so is the art she creates in sand. I remember seeing something similar a few years ago on Britain’s Got Talent. x

I enjoyed seeing your posts about this on Instagram. I have seen sand drawing in the past, but it’s been a long time ago. It’s fascinating! What a clever and beautiful way to raise funds.

I think it’s fascinating too and it was the first time I saw it live. I also a short clip with her, at another event.
