Reviews Restaurants & Pubs

Vegan in Portsmouth

Vegan in Portsmouth is a round-up of the restaurants we’ve been to. I already blogged about Mangosteen, which deserved its own review because the staff was so lovely and we’ve been there twice. In this post there is a vegan restaurant while the rest are vegan options in places which also serve meat.

SHROOM

Obviously, I will start with SHROOM, a Pop Up at The Royal Albert, a pub. This place, as the name suggests, offers a lot of mushroom based dishes. As we like mushrooms very much, we were very keen to visit them. Their menu has things like an impressive selection of burgers, sides such as mac & cheeze, tenders, and loaded fries.
For people who don’t like mushrooms, they have mushroom free options too.

We got two lovely burgers, with a cheese sauce, mushroom bites, and fries. The burgers were stunning, so good. I would have liked to visit them again, but time was limited.

Pizza

Pizza at Pizza Express, which was good. We were invited there, as a group. They don’t have loads of vegan options, but this pizza was nice.

Pub

The pub near the cathedral was another place where we went a few times. As we were at the even in the cathedral, The Dolphin Pub & Kitchen, just across the road was the best option for lunch and/or drinks. The burger was good, a bean burger.

Pub

We had houmous another time, which was very good and I recommended it to a friend.

Pub

On Sunday I had the vegan roast, which intrigued the group, and they tried a bit. I loved that. It’s nice when meat-eaters are curious about vegan food and they actually say they enjoy it.

There are options for vegans in Portsmouth. As most cities in UK, vegans are well catered for.

  1. Oh wow, those burgers from SHROOM look delicious – I love the sound of this pop up. We’re probably heading down to Portsmouth at Easter, so I’ve bookmarked your post to remind me to try SHROOM, thank you!

    1. Everything was really good. My favourite must be the Sunday roast, I just love gravy and the whole idea of it.
