Walk through Marseille is my last round up of cities I visited in France. I am sharing highlights from the city which were not included in previous posts.

Marseille is really big and there are a lot of things to see there.

This view of Marseille was taken on the way to the church Notre-Dame de la Garde, which I mentioned before on the blog.

Old port, seen from a vantage point, looks wonderful.

The islands can be visited and we saw one of them, where Château d’If is.

Castle on the left was built by Napoleon III in mid-1800s. This is the gateway towards the sea.

There are loads of boat rides from Marseille.

The cathedral is in the background and this picture is taken from a museum which offers free access to the outdoor spaces. It’s beautiful.

This bridge connects to Muceum museum with the city and the views from it are stunning.

This is one of the pictures I took from the bridge.

An American tank from WWII is not something I was expecting to see, but I love that.

These flowers adorned the entrance to a house, they are very unusual.

Cacti growing like weeds on green patches in the city was not something I was expecting.

The train station and the bus station are in the same place. From there are both metro and bus services.

Museum Muceum has a beautiful architectural design. The metal encasing replicates the waves. There is a cafe on the top floor and I imagine it is busy constantly. It was busy just before closing time, when we arrived.

Hotel de Ville is one of the oldest in Marseille and it has the statue of Louis XIV, seen below a closer pic with it.

This is the round up of the city. I would like to go there again to see some of the museums I didn’t get the chance to see.

What beautiful views! It does look like a gorgeous city! Fantastic photos.
It looks like you had beautiful weather during your time there. The flowers are gorgeous and how interesting to see the cacti! The metal “waves” made me think of camouflage netting!
Yes, the weather was hot, a bit too much for my taste. I like the 20C to 25C range (68F to 77F), but it was hotter than that. Only once it rained and we had another day with clouds in 2 weeks.
It does look a bit like camouflage netting, you are right. 🙂 Initially I didn’t like the building, but after seeing it closer I changed my mind and I think it is nice and suitable for its location.
Beautiful photographs! I’d love to visit this iconic place some day.
I hope you get the chance, it is a beautiful and historical part of the world.
