Happy New Year to my readers!
This month was a bit quiet, with some events and a couple of trips to the Christmas market. It started in turmoil, as the Romanian elections were cancelled. Voting will take place again, most likely in March next year. There was significant russian interference and that was the right call. I did go and vote.
A cat, Bernoulli, visited us for a couple of weeks. Just before Christmas she stopped coming into the conservatory to sleep. I saw her outside, so I know that she is fine. We left the door ajar for her, in case she decides she wants to sleep again in the conservatory.
Besides that I read a lot and finished my reading challenge. Before Christmas I switched to fiction and went through a lot of books. The list of books is at the end of the post.

This is where the elections took place in Liverpool. The situation with the election is still unclear.

We’ve been to a Christmas concert in a newly refurbished library and it was so lovely. We’ve had a wonderful time and the money raised with the tickets were given to the library, for charity. I think that’s amazing. I will go to their cafe more often, as it is such a lovely place. I’ve also blogged about an event, with sand animation, it was such an interesting and unusual event. I enjoyed it very much.

We’ve also been to Ukrainian events, the pictures above and below are from 2 events. One was a workshop with carols singing, mulled wine, and some stalls selling crafts. I got some candles from there, just stunning, and a bauble.

We’ve had desserts or lunch/dinner a couple of times this month and it was nice.

I wanted a cocktail set and after the masterclass earlier this month, I got one. I like using it and I know more about making cocktails. It’s such a fun activity.

From this month, I highly recommend all the books with 5 stars, and Liz Cheney’s memoir, which I awarded only 4 stars because it is in the American style of political memoirs that I find a bit bland.
I also read a collection of poetry by an amazing author from Lviv and that was amazing too.

Happy new year Anca. Hope that things get sorted with the elections and they go ahead without interference next time. Well done on completing your reading challenge. I’m impressed by how many books you managed to read in December! #project365
The cocktail making kit sounds fun. I don’t drink that much for it to be used that much and it would just end up in the cupboard. Has the cat moved in with you yet? That’s how we were adopted back in 2012.
The cat is not coming to our home anymore. It’s such a shame, but what can I do. I hope she is fine.
The library concert sounds fun.
That’s impressive book reading speed- I am glad you managed to finish your challenge.
Happy new year!
Still sounds like a busy month. Cute that a cat sees you as somewhere to pop in. I’ve never read any Mary Balogh books but maybe I should look into them – I do like aChristmas novel, and I quite like Karen Swan books. Hope you’ve had a lovely new year.

I really enjoyed hearing about all you did this month! The Ukrainian Carol workshop sounds brilliant – how did you hear about it? I’d be keen to take part in something similar. Also, the library event sounds super too. I wish my local library did such things.
You achieved a lot with your reading. Do you buy the books in physical form or read on a Kindle? Do you keep books or then pass them on/sell them? I’m intrigued!
I am in 2 Ukrainian groups on facebook and I attend some of their events. They do appreciate the support and I always enjoy the events, as they are so friendly.
I almost always read physical books. I have some pdfs that I read either on my phone or on the laptop, but I rarely do that. I borrow books from the library, as much as I can, the rest are bought and kept. I only donated to charity books that I bought from charity in the first place, fiction that I will not re-read, but 99% of books that I bought are now in my bookcase.
December sounds like a good month for you. The cocktails look fab, have fun with them.
Happy new year, wishing you all the best for 2025. x

I am very excited about the cocktail making kit. It’s such a wonderful experience, it is an experience for all.
Happy New Year to you too. xx
Wow — great reading this month and most were four or five stars! That’s great! (I see a few favorite authors here, too.)
I especially loved the concert and the Ukrainian events. They must have been very special.
Sending all good wishes for a lovely new year, my friend. Oh, if only it could bring peace.
The events were very special indeed. I hope so much for peace this year. All the best to you too. xx
You had a busy month (as usual!) and I enjoyed reading about it here. The “cocktail making” looks fun and the colorful Ukraine cocktail is very pretty.
I wish you and your husband all the best in the coming year!
