The differences between russia vs Ukraine in a few videos & pictures. I’ve decided to use a meme as the picture for this post because it’s both funny and accurate. Ukrainian troops crossed the border into russian territory and are having great success there. While we can’t know the aims of this operation, we can pretty much know what is going on in the minds of ordinary people, who found themselves in an active war.

Firstly, a recent clip from Sudzha, a city in the Kursk oblast of russia. In this 1 minute clip, a russian went to see the situation in the city centre and here are his findings.
Highlights from the clip:
– the translation is correct, but he says “Ukrop” before correcting himself to say “Ukrainian flag”. Ukrop is a derogatory term;
– he laughs when the Ukrainian soldier tells him to learn the anthem and prepare for a referendum – this means that this russian at least knows that the illegal referendums in Crimea and the occupied territories were a shamble and a land-grab;
– he said that he is not bothered in which country he lives – russia or Ukraine.
There are reports that hundreds of russian soldiers were taken prisoners, which is fantastic news for future prisoner swaps. The situation is active and reports might not be completely accurate, but at least dozens of prisoners were taken, as there is footage of that.
This is why russia attacked Ukraine. The regime and many of the russian people thought Ukraine will just give up, because this is what they would have done. Now, let’s remember what Ukrainians did in February 2022, ordinary Ukrainians. The Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense asked the citizens on Facebook to make and throw Molotov cocktails on russian equipment from their balconies. The population did just that. A quick search of Molotov and Ukraine on twitter showed these results:

These few clips are representative of the russian and Ukrainian society, of what each peoples value and what they are willing to do to protect their nation.
